Ie developer tools disable script greyed out
Tried removing ie 11 in windows features and then rebooting then adding ie 11 and rebooting. It is still missing, see attached image. This thread is locked. I have no idea how long it has been this way. I have not previously modified them, so I presume that is the way it came from the factory. I clicked the Custom level button and checked all the many! I reset it to Prompt, which, of course, had no effect whatsoever. After working for about an hour, it now no longer appears, regardless of whether I try to check it under Tools checking it has no effect; the check mark does not appear when the menu is reopened.
It's basically just gone. I have disabled it in Manage Add-ons, to no effect. I am now going to uninstall it altogether, then see if there isn't a Repair option for IE in Control Panel.
If so, I will run it and reboot and see what gives. Back later I had this same problem with my new install of Windows7 and IE8. I didn't have it with my old XP machine with IE8. I finally figured it out by myself after a LOT of fruitless searching on the web. The reason "Script" is disabled is because you're running as a User. Then, when you open Developer Tools "Script" will be enabled. My guess is the people who answered above who could not repro are logged in as Admins and not Users.
If I worked on the IE team I would flag it as a bug. Why shouldn't any user have the power to prevent active script running in the browser? Other products test that way too, so this product behavior still baffles me. They must be aware of it. Thank you, Danmor.
