I've just exited Steam post-update and tried to run it again a few minutes later and I'm getting an error: "There is a problem with your Steam installation - Please reinstall Steam". According to TaskManager Steam I deleted a file and it forced Steam to redownload and reinstall but I still get the same error. Is anyone else getting this error?
Darren Hodgson , Sep 6, What a weird error. That thread posted the fix which is to edit a pathname in the registry and when I checked mine the SteamClient.
Setting it back to the Steam folder fixed the Steam error. How the hell did that happen? Could the actual game have messed up the path file name? It just happens that after those several client updates for the past two months, most of the games that I've played before and still installed suddenly running prerequisite installations again; some keep doing this even after I've played them several times. I got this a lot with the current beta, stopped after I opted out of it, interesting info about that registry entry though, may have to check that if it happens again.
JonasBeckman , Sep 6, Delete all of the contents of this folder except: The Steamapps folder and Steam. Then, you will need to launch Steam.
With Steam running, re-test the original issue. Note: This process will not affect your currently installed games. Cromat , Sep 6,
